Ghana Education Service Releases 2024/25 Academic Calendar for Public Schools

The Ghana Education Service (GES) has announced the 2024/2025 academic calendar for public schools, including Kindergarten, Primary, and Junior High Schools (JHS). The calendar features structured academic periods, vacation breaks, and examination schedules to ensure effective learning and smooth transitions across the terms.

Key Highlights of the Calendar:

First Term (14 Weeks):

• In-School Period: 10th September – 19th December 2024
• Vacation Period: 20th December 2024 – 7th January 2025

Second Term (14 Weeks):

• In-School Period: 8th January – 17th April 2025
• Vacation Period: 18th April – 5th May 2025

Third Term (12 Weeks):

• In-School Period: 6th May – 24th July 2025
• Vacation Period: Starts 25th July 2025 (End of Academic Year)

Additional Details:

• JHS 3 Students: The Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) is scheduled for July 2025.
• KG to JHS 2 Students: Regular academic sessions will follow the outlined schedule.

The academic year includes 40 weeks of contact between students and teachers, ensuring ample instructional time to meet curriculum goals.
